How to mark customers inactive?

    Three kinds of customers can be defined based on mailing lists –

    1. Inactive Customers –
    Inactive customers are those to whom you want to exclude from sending any future emails.
    Note: You will not be charged for inactive members. If an inactive customer makes a purchase, they become active again.

    2. Unsubscribed Customers –
    Unsubscribed customers are those who have opted out from your mailing list and don’t wish to receive further newsletter email campaigns.

    3. Subscribed Marketing –
    Those customers who accept marketing that is agreed to receive news and exclusive offers or promotional email from your store.

    There are three ways through which you can mark customers as inactive in AiTrillion.

    1. Using bulk CSV import.
    2. Using domain suppression setting.
    3. Manually mark a customer inactive.

    1. Using bulk CSV import to mark customers inactive

     Step 1. Login to AiTrillion, go to Email Marketing -> Contacts -> Import CSV


    Step 2. In your customer CSV file add a new column named “Is inactive”. In this column, there is a need to fill the “Yes” value to mark the customers as inactive.


    Step 3. Now Save the CSV file and import it.  Refer this article to learn more about how to import customers through CSV. During the import map “Is inactive” with “Customer Inactive” field.


    Once the process completes, you can check inactive or active customer list in customer insight page by applying customer inactive filter.


    Enable “Send mail to accept marketing” setting to send email to only those customers who accept marketing. Keep it disabled to send email to all customers excluding inactive customers.


    2. Using domain suppression setting – You can easily mark customers inactive based on their domain appear in the email such as (
    e.g. if you don’t want to send emails to all customers from ( or ( You can suppress ( or ( domains.

    Step 1. Login to AiTrillion, go to Email Marketing -> Contacts -> Domain Suppression


    Step 2. Enter the domain you wish to suppress such as ( or ( and click on save.


    3.  Manually mark a customer as inactive.  

    Step 1. Login to AiTrillion, go to Customer Insights page.

    Step 2. Click on a contact you wish to mark inactive.


    Step 3. Click on the Active button to toggle it to inactive.
