Walmart has been establishing an example for other retailers by promptly fastened the hatches.  In April, it waived rent for its in-store renters, focused on contactless payment systems into operation, started using plexiglass barriers in stores to protect employees and customers, encouraged people to shop groceries online, and even began evaluating traffic flow into its stores.

While other retailers worried thinking about how to reopen their businesses, Walmart has been putting all its efforts to make itself more stimulating.

A few weeks ago, Walmart announced its partnership with ThredUP, and,  now Walmart pulled itself again with the new partnership with Shopify. This new Shopify deal will surely prove as a game-changer.

According to Clementz, “Growing our Marketplace is a strategic priority, and we are going to be smart as we grow. We will start integrating new sellers now and expect to add 1,200 Shopify sellers this year. Shopify has a long history of helping small businesses leverage scale, and we’re proud to be part of the solution that is helping customers and other retailers.”

The transit seems synergistic on all sides.

Well, this is not new, a few days back Shopify has proclaimed alliance with Facebook, However, it will be interesting to see what Walmart could bring to the table in the long-run that other digital hams cannot.

Don’t be surprised if Walmart beat other retailers, it is working round the clock to complete with the future marketplace.
